Leading retail chain, Quickmart, is celebrating its 18 year anniversary in the Kenyan market – rising from underdog to a top three player. Chief Marketing Officer, Ms Betty Wamaitha, said Quickmart’s notable milestone is rising to become the second largest retailer.

She added that the fast-growing supermarket is providing employment for Kenyans. Ms Wamaitha stated that their customer service has improved over the years. “Customer is king and customer services are the heart of everything that we do. So we train our staff continuously to provide exceptional customer service in our store,” she said.

Quickmart has also partnered with Glovo and Uber Eats to serve their customers more conveniently. She also noted that they have 26 stores that operate round the clock, ensuring that customers can grab a quick meal or quick shopping anytime around them.

The supermarket, established in 2006 in Nakuru, is also getting into the e-commerce space. Ms Wamaitha revealed that they are launching the e-commerce mobile platform, Q-Soko soon.

As part of the celebrations, the company honoured its longest-serving staff with accolades. Quickmart also celebrated Kilimo Shuleni, a corporate social responsibility project which is onboarded in a school in Kajiado.

“We have set up a school farm, five acres and we have taught the community how to farm. We did our first harvest. For us it’s about sustainable community engagement,” Wamaitha said.
