Safaricom Foundation will tomorrow Friday 8th February, 2019 announce a major investment in the TVET sector during the Kenya Skills Show 2019.
The investment which is part of Safaricom Foundation strategic direction will be implemented across all the 47 counties.
An analysis by Higher Education Loans Board shows that employability is at 96 percent for people with technical and vocational education and training compared to 40 percent among those with a university degree.
Despite this, Kenya still has a relatively low participation in TVET with the most acute skills gaps being in construction (including masonry, plumbing, electrical engineering, welding), automotive engineering, ICT, Carpentry, animal husbandry, agribusiness, fashion and design, and the skills required for the oil and gas industry.
