More than 144,000 homes countrywide now within reach of Safaricom’s Fibre to the Home service

Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has today connected Ngummo estate to its Fibre to the Home service in Nairobi County. The move will benefit more than 1,200 homes in Ngummo and Newa estates and brings the number of homes within reach of the service to more than 144,000 countrywide.

“Ngummo has been one of the estates where the service has been highly requested. With fibre connectivity now a basic need, we are keen to bring more homes in the County within reach of quality, fixed and affordable broadband services,” said Steve Okeyo, Director – Regional Services and Operations, Safaricom.

To mark the milestone, residents in the estate and all other customers across the country will receive one month of free fibre connectivity with each new connection. In addition, new customers will also continue to enjoy free fibre installation services and a free WiFi router.

Safaricom has sought to distinguish its Fibre to the Home service by emphasizing reliability and a dedicated customer support line by calling 400 for existing customers and dialing *400# for those looking to get connected.

Customers can pick from a variety of packages starting with a basic Bronze 5 Mbps package for KES. 2,500. For streaming, and moderate to heavy usage, customers can choose from a 10 Mbps Silver package, 20 Mbps Gold Package and 40 Mbps Platinum Package for KES. 3,499, KES. 4,999 and KES. 9,999 respectively.

Within Nairobi County and its environs, Safaricom has rolled out the service in Nyayo, Kitengela, Langata, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Kinoo, Uthiru, Athi River, BuruBuru, Ngong, Runda, Imara Daima, South B, South C, Parklands, TRM Drive, Lumumba Drive and Kikuyu estates.
