Posta marks World Posts Day by relaunching PostaPay

Postal Corporation of Kenya celebrated the annual World Posts Day with renewed vigor as it relaunched PostaPay, a revamped  electronic payment platform that offers cash transfer services including disbursements, collections and sending of money between individuals for collection at the post office.

In a speech read on her behalf by Broadcasting & Telecommunications Principal Secretary Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani, CS, Dr. Margaret Ndung’u commended the Postal Corporation of Kenya for making efforts to respond to the fast-changing consumer needs in adaptation of new technologies. 

PostaPay will offer competitive transactional costs and real-time visibility for revenue collection and transfer of funds to wallets.

“It is our strategic intent to position Posta Kenya as the preferred payments partner for Government-to-People payments, people-to-Government payments as well as Business to Business payments people to people at affordable rates. Indeed, the potential of Posta to play an increasing role in the financial inclusion cannot be gainsaid, we only need to actualize that vision,”she said. 

Dr. Ndungú also acknowledged the efforts by the Communication Authority of Kenya in fostering a responsive regulatory environment that will facilitate the growth of the Post in the long run.

Coupled with emerging global realities in the postal landscape, she says, the ongoing deliberations within the context of the Universal Postal Union, provides an opportunity to learn from best practices to repurpose the Post to play an even bigger role within the country’s socio-economic agenda. 

The theme of this year’s World Post Day, “150 years of enabling communication and empowering people across nations”, honours the transformative role of Postal Services which connects individuals, businesses, and Governments.

“The Government of Kenya, stands firm in its mission to propel our nation into a dynamic, profit-driven digital economy, and the post and logistics industry plays an indispensable role in this transformative journey.”

On his part, Postmaster General John Tonui emphasized the overarching role of Posta Kenya in the The Postal and Courier industry especially now that the surge in E-commerce has underscored the pivotal significance of the Postal and Courier sector.

“The postal and courier industry is on the precipice of unprecedented change, where innovation is the key to a resilient future.” 

The adoption of cutting-edge technologies and a steadfast commitment to innovation are paramount as we harness the momentum generated by shifting market dynamics.
